Some of our sharper eyed readers may have already seen it appear on their home page, but if you’ve yet to experience the social site’s new app-titude, then your time has arrived.
Seemingly launched via stealth, or at least certainly with no trumpeted fanfare, if you’re still searching your FB page for evidence, simply click on ‘Home’ in the top right corner and then head to the left hand panel where now an intriguing new icon should be sitting with the enticing name of App Center.
Offering apps for Web or Mobile, covering main categories of Games, Entertainment, Facebook, Lifestyle, Music, News, Photo & Video, Sports, Travel & Local, and Utilities, with sub-categories galore, the Facebook App Center offers downloads for both Android and iOS, taking a uniquely Switzerland-like neutral position in the mobile OS war.
If browsing the Center (Yes, yes, they’re American – they may be rich and net savvy to a terrifying degree but they still can’t spell properly) from a PC, you can click on the Send to Mobile button to have your app of choice sent directly to your device and, unlike either Google Play or the App Store, users can set to share news of their downloads and posts of progress made automatically on their Book of Face page, bringing a (surprise, surprise) more social aspect to proceedings.
So, got a Facebook account? Yes, of course you have, so head over to the App Center now and let us know what you think.
